Designer Watch: Dion Lee

Australian fashion designer, Dion Lee showcased his RTW Spring/Summer 2010-2011 collection recently at the Rosemount Australian Fashion Week. Some of his pieces had gorgeous symmetrical organic prints that look like those art works we did in elementary school-- where we had to paint one side of the paper and fold it, making a symmetrical inkblot type print. The pleating details on his black and powder blue dresses were also absolutely fantastical! I especially ADORE the crazy pleats on his black dress and those black-and- purple-hole-punched leggings. Dion Lee is definitely one of those upcoming designers to watch, and I can't wait to see what he'll show us next. Now my question is, where can I go find some of his pieces in the U.S or even in Asia?

Vogue Korea: Hyori Lee in Jeremy Scott

I love how sporty pieces are mixed with feminine details or dresses. They're two very different "worlds" and putting them together may clash oddly, but I think it works really well here. It's like a new creation of a new style. I especially adore the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 6th outfits!

Music: Urban Zakapa & Hil St. Soul... and more...

I'm really into acid jazz, soul, lounge and the Korean underground, indie/house music scene these days. I think it's because of the weather... It's getting much warmer and transitioning into spring/summer, my favorite seasons :)

I feel like the indie & house/electronic music scene in Korea definitely needs more attention. They're so underrated and overshadowed by mainstream, pop boy & girl groups. I mean, I personally enjoy listening to those kind of genres as well, but I've been appreciating the underdogs more, so to say haha
For example, I'm adoring bands like Urban Zakapa, House Rulez, Casker, Ra.D, Humming Urban Stereo, and Peppertones. If you haven't heard their sounds yet, you should check them out through Youtube. Trust me, you won't be disappointed if you enjoy listening to chill, house or electronic music.
I have also found a new, gorgeous singer named Hil St. Soul... She's absolutely magical, and her music and voice is just beautiful to listen to. I've uploaded some music samples by some of the musicians I've listed above.
Put your volume up, chill, and enjoy these beautiful, romantic sounds that will truly bring you to another world of peace & goodness . . . ENJOY <3

R.I.P Alexander McQueen

It's been a few days since his death.
A friend of mine texted me this tragic news the day he passed away. I seriously did not believe it, and I thought he was playing a prank on me.
We have lost such a brilliant man, and we will, unfortunately, never see his creations again. Yes, there may be a talented successor to his line, but the house of McQueen will never be the same.
What makes me angry is that this huge loss was not given much attention. Yes, celebrities and friends mourned his death, but it seemed as if the most important news that day was former president Bill Clinton's heart attack which he survived...
This was such a heart-breaking loss.

Alexander McQueen, you will truly be missed.

Louis Vuitton: Journey

I personally LOVED the video submission by Sho Tsukikawa ("The Time Walker") who so happens to have won the Louis Vuitton Jury Award. It definitely is a must see! It's such a beautiful and inspirational video. . .

makes you ponder . . .

"Does the person create the journey or does the journey create the person?"

"Say Hi to Forever . . ." -Daul Kim

Daul Kim

I still cannot believe this, and a part of me wants to believe that this is all a lie
and some kind of trick.
She was, and forever will be, one of my favorite models not only
because of her charismatic, fresh face but also for her fun, unique, and eccentric character.
She was such an inspiration to me and  had a great taste for trance/electronic/techo music.
There are only a couple of Asian models
who have made it far and successful in the fashion industry like Daul.

Unnie, you will TRULY be missed.
Rest In Peace . . . Forever.
